The driver of a Jeep, whose vehicle collided with a semi-truck in Marengo, causing both vehicles to rollover, miraculously survived the Monday morning crash.

The Marengo Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was called around 8 a.m. to Coral Road and Maple Street for a report of a crash involving a semi-truck and Jeep.

Fire crews found a semi-truck and a Jeep which both rolled over. The semi-truck, which was hauling sand, caught fire, spreading to a utility pole.

The fire was extinguished after ComEd was called to the scene. Fire crews had to extricate the driver of the Jeep from the vehicle.

The victim was transported by a Flight For Life helicopter to a level one trauma center where he is expected to survive.

The driver of the truck was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection was shutdown for several hours. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
