A former Lake in the Hills man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting three young girls, who were his relatives, McHenry County prosecutors said.
Edgar A. Arana, 73, formerly of Lake in the Hills, was sentenced on Monday to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick D. Kenneally said that the man was sentenced on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
The sentence came following a negotiated plea in front of Judge Sharon Prather. Arana plead guilty to sexually assaulting a minor victim who was under 13 years old in September 2016 and abusing two other victims under the age of 13 in 2008 and 2011.
Prosecutors said that Arana could be eligible for parole after 11 years. Child pornography charges filed in August 2017 against the man were dropped by prosecutors, court records show.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Sharyl Eisenstein and Rita Gara. The case was investigated by Detective Decker of the Lake in the Hills Police Department, the Woodstock Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
