Police are investigating after a gas station in Lindenhurst was robbed by a man with a shotgun Wednesday evening.

The Lindenhurst Police Department was called at 11 p.m. Wednesday to Clark Gas Station, 2041 East Grand Avenue in Lindenhurst, for a report of an armed robbery.

The employee told police that while closing the business, a male white wearing a dark sweatshirt, dark colored shorts, black shoes and a bandana covering his face entered the store.

Police said that the suspect was armed with a shotgun and pointed it at the employee. The man demanded money and threatened the employee.

The suspect fled on foot from the business with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise. Police established a perimeter in the area with the help of Lake Villa Police, Antioch Police and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office along with a canine team.

A search led police to an area two blocks away and some of the stolen merchandise along with the gun were recovered.

Police did not say if the suspect is in custody but they said that they “have a person of interest.”
