One child is in serious condition and two others are stable after being struck by lightning while waiting for the school bus in Round Lake Heights Thursday morning.

Police said that the incident happened around 7:15 a.m. Thursday while the three students were waiting for the school bus near Lotus Drive and Ottawa Drive.

The three kids, who are middle school students in Lake Villa District 41, were found injured on the ground when emergency crews arrived.

Officials said that the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The three kids were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

One child was in serious condition and two others were in stable condition, according to fire officials.

Other children were at the bus stop when the three kids were struck by the lightning but they were uninjured.
