A Waukegan man in his 50s was found shot to death on his front yard Wednesday night, police said.

The Waukegan Police Department was called for a report of a man down in front of a home in the first block of North Jackson Street in Waukegan, which is just north of Washington Street.

Police officers found a man shot in the front yard of the home. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police have not yet released the man’s name but said that he lived at the home and was in his 50s.

Detectives from the Waukegan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the shooting.

Waukegan Chief of Police Wayne Walles said that detectives believe the incident is isolated. No suspects are in custody but police are following up on numerous leads, Walles said.

Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper has scheduled an autopsy for Thursday afternoon.
