A 63-year-old Mundelein woman died after being struck by a car while trying to cross Route 45 Sunday evening, Mundelein police said.
The Mundelein Police Department and Mundelein Fire Department were called to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car on Route 45 south of Hickory Street at 7:44 p.m. on Sunday.
Mundelein Chief of Police Eric J. Guenther said that a 63-year-old Mundelein woman, whose name has not yet been released, was struck by a car driving southbound as she was trying to cross the street.
The 63-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the car, a 53-year-old Vernon Hills resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The driver was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center for additional testing.
Guenther said that there was no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved with the driver, who has not been charged or cited by police.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to assist with the investigation because of the seriousness of the incident, Guenther added.
