A street gang member wanted for murder in Mississippi was captured by U.S. Marshals and law enforcement officers in Zion on Tuesday.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team, U.S. Marshals, Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force and the Zion Police Department captured Deshaude Jones, 40, of the 2300 block of Westbrook Street in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that Jones, who is a documented street gang member, was wanted for murder by the Ocean Springs Police Department in Mississippi.
U.S. Marshals learned that Jones was staying in the 2200 block of Ezekiel Ave in Zion. Investigators conducted surveillance on the area and confirmed Jones was staying there.
He was arrested without incident in a second-floor apartment. Police recovered two guns from the residence where Jones was arrested.
Jones was transported to the Lake County Jail where he remains held on a $10 million bond pending extradition proceedings. He is scheduled to appear in court again on October 2.
