Johnsburg School District 12 officials said that a woman tried luring kids to her car while they were playing outside a Wonder Lake home on Monday.

Johnsburg School District 12 Superintendent Dan Johnson said in an email to parents on Tuesday that the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Johnson said that a heavy-set woman in her 60s with shoulder-length white hair and a purple shirt, pulled up to the end of a driveway on Barnard Mill Road in Wonder Lake while kids were playing outside of a home.

The woman called out to the young kids several times and said “come here.” An older sibling was able to get the children inside the home.

The woman, who was driving an older model black sedan, drove away westbound from the home, Johnson added.

“This message is not intended to alarm you. It is meant to inform and remind you to talk with your child/children about the importance of being safe, to not communicate or go with any strangers and always be on the look out for suspicious behavior,” Johnson said in the email.
