Two men are on the run after police say they pushed a woman down and carjacked her at the Jewel-Osco in Algonquin Thursday afternoon.

The Algonquin Police Department was called at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday for a report of a carjacking at Jewel-Osco, 1501 East Algonquin Road.

Algonquin Deputy Police Chief of Operations Ryan Markham said that two men, who were between 18 and 25 years old, approached a 58-year-old Algonquin woman while she was standing outside her car. One of the suspects pushed the woman to the ground and implied he had a gun.

One of the suspects took the woman’s car and the other suspect ran on foot towards Sandbloom Road, Markham said.

Before the two suspects carjacked the woman, they stole liquor from the grocery store, officials added.

Nearby schools, churches and businesses were notified and went on lockdown while police searched for the suspects. The stolen vehicle was later located in Carpentersville and police determined the suspects were no longer in the area.
