Flight For Life was called after an elderly couple was seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash near Harvard Friday evening.
Emergency crews responded around 7 p.m. Friday evening to Route 23 and North Olbrich Road in Dunham Township, which is between Harvard and Marengo, for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies found an elderly man and elderly woman trapped inside a mangled Chevy Silverado pickup truck. They were able to free the man from the truck quickly but it took firefighters over 90 minutes to extricate the woman in the passenger seat.
Flight For Life was called and they transported the woman to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Her husband was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Both suffered serious injuries.
Officials said that the couple was driving southbound on Route 23 when their vehicle struck an unoccupied vehicle stopped in the roadway.
The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, who has not released any other information.
