A 53-year-old man is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening in Lake in the Hills, police said.
The Algonquin Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District were called at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car near Algonquin Road and Crystal Lake Road in Lake in the Hills.
Police found a 53-year-old Lake in the Hills man, whose identity has not yet been released, with severe injuries. The man was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medical Huntley Hospital in critical condition.
The Algonquin Police Department said that the man was crossing the intersection when a westbound vehicle, driven by a 50-year-old Algonquin woman, struck him. The woman was not impaired and also not injured, police added.
Algonquin Road was shutdown in both directions for three and a half hours while police investigators worked at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Algonquin Police Department. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 847-658-4531.
