A 53-year-old man is in critical condition and two children suffered serious injuries after a t-bone crash in unincorporated Mundelein on Thursday.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Mundelein Police Department, Mundelein Fire Department and Countryside Fire Protection District responded at 6 p.m. Thursday to a vehicle crash with injuries at Route 60-83 and Circle Drive South, near the Irish Mill.

Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that a 2000 Ford van, driven by a 53-year-old Harwood Heights man, was trying to make a left turn from Circle Drive onto southbound Route 60-83.

The man made the left turn in front of a northbound 2010 Land Rover SUV, driven by a 35-year-old Mundelein woman, which resulted in the Land Rover hitting the driver side of the Ford van.

The driver of the Ford was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in critical condition. A 7-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl who were in the Land Rover were also transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with serious injuries, Covelli said.
