
A 40-year-old man is dead and another person was injured after a pickup truck and car crashed in southwest McHenry County Friday evening.
The Marengo Fire Protection District, Union Fire Protection District, Woodstock Fire/Rescue and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 5:35 p.m. to Route 176 and Union Road in Union for a vehicle crash.
Emergency crews arrived and found a t-bone crash involving a pickup truck and car. Ryan B. Weberpal, 40, of Belvidere, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 5:45 p.m., McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski said.
Weberpal was the driver of the car. An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday morning, the coroner added. The driver of the pickup truck was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital Huntley in unknown condition.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released any information about the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
