The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect who robbed a convenience store and gas station at gunpoint in Third Lake.

Lake County Sheriff Detective Rebecca Loeb said that the first robbery happened on Sunday around 3 a.m. at the Thorton’s Gas Station, 34225 North Route 45 in Third Lake. The second robbery occurred on Tuesday around 7 p.m. at the Gages Lake Food and Liquor, 18495 West Old Gages Lake Road in Third Lake.

In both robberies, a male black in his mid 20s, 5-foot-9 to 6 feet tall, with a thin to medium build, entered the stores and pointed a handgun at the clerk.

The clerk said that the suspect demanded money from the register and ran out the front doors of the store in both cases, Loeb said. No one was injured in either robbery.

Detectives believe the same suspect is responsible for both robberies. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 847-377-4245.
