Feliciano Hernandez-Saucedo, 23, of Ingleside, was killed in a head-on crash in Ingleside early Saturday morning which left a 72-year-old woman critically injured, the coroner said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded just after 12:10 a.m. Saturday to Route 134 between Robin Road and Wooster Lake Drive in Ingleside for a two-vehicle car accident.

Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that a 2002 Acura TL and a 2000 Buick Century were involved and suffered major damage from the crash.

The Acura, driven by Hernandez-Saucedo, was driving westbound on Route 134 when it crossed over into the eastbound lanes for an unknown reason. The Acura struck the eastbound Buick, driven by a 72-year-old Round Lake man, head-on.

Covelli said that Hernandez-Saucedo was pronounced dead at the scene. The 72-year-old man driving the Buick suffered minor injuries. His 72-year-old wife, who was in the passenger seat of the Buick, was trapped in the car and extricated by firefighters.

She was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she remains in critical condition.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office said that an autopsy performed on Hernandez-Saucedo showed that he died from injuries caused by blunt force trauma. Toxicology testing is pending.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
