A 20-year-old man was injured after a shooting following a fight in Round Lake Beach Saturday afternoon, police said.

The Gurnee Police Department was called at 3:15 p.m. Saturday to the Speedway gas station, 3688 Grand Avenue in Gurnee, for a gunshot victim.

Police found a 20-year-old man who had been shot in the stomach. The victim’s family member was driving the man to the hospital when they became lost, pulled into the gas station, and called 911.

Round Lake Beach Deputy Police Chief Michael Scott said that the man had been shot at a home in the 1400 block of Elm Avenue in Round Lake Beach. Officers responded to the home and learned that an argument and physical fight occurred.

Scott said that the fight was between a person who arrived at the home uninvited with a group and the victim’s brother. The suspect fired a gun during the altercation which struck the victim.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville from the Speedway in Gurnee. He has since been released from the hospital.

No other details have been released yet. The Round Lake Beach Police Department is still searching for the shooter.
