A 47-year-old woman was found dead in her home early Monday morning in unincorporated Round Lake, and a person of interest is in custody.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Fox Lake Fire Protection District was called at 3:25 a.m. Monday to the 34100 block of North Broomsedge Road in unincorporated Round Lake.

Sheriff’s deputies found a woman deceased inside the residence, Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Christopher Covelli said. The woman, whose identity has not yet been publicly released, had suspicious injuries on her body, Covelli added.

A 52-year-old man who lives in the house with the woman was taken into police custody as a person of interest. The Lake County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday afternoon.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to the community. The death investigation is in the initial stages and more information will be released as it’s available,” Covelli said.
