An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who allegedly let an 11-year-old girl drive a car to her elementary school in Round Lake Park, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Khafilu M. Oshodi, 31, of the 500 block of Lakewood Terrace in Round Lake, for two counts of child endangerment and driving on a suspended license.

Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said that John J.ย Murphy Elementary School officials called police on January 9 after numerous employees had witnessed an 11-year-old student drive up to a school drop off point.

The employees saw the 11-year-old girl exit from the drivers seat and also saw a 9-year-old get out from the rear of the car.ย Oshodi then switched to the driver’s seat and drove away from the area, Filenko said.

Drop off and pickup are the busiest times of the school day. Numerous children, staff and parents are present in the drop off area. This irresponsible behavior couldโ€™ve resulted in any number of tragic scenarios,” Filenko said.
