A Village of Libertyville snow plow struck and killed a man inside a residential neighborhood in Libertyville Monday morning, police said.
The Libertyville Police Department and Libertyville Fire Department responded around 9:50 a.m. Monday to the 600 block of Bridle Court in Libertyville.
Emergency crews found an adult male struck by a Village of Libertyville snow plow truck. The man, who has not yet been publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The incident is being investigated by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT). The plow driver has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
According to WGN9 News, an elderly man using a snow blower to clear his driveway was struck by the plow truck. Police have not confirmed this yet.
Libertyville Police Department Lt. Ed Roncone said no further information or comments will be released by the Village of Libertyville. The Lake County Coroner’s Office is not releasing the name or age of the man until the preliminary autopsy is complete Tuesday morning.
