Donald Anderson, 75, was struck and killed by a Village of Libertyville snow plow in Libertyville Monday morning, the Lake County Coroner’s Office announced.

The Libertyville Police Department and Libertyville Fire Department responded around 9:50 a.m. Monday to the 600 block of Bridle Court in Libertyville.

Emergency crews found Anderson, who had been struck by a Village of Libertyville snow plow. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to assist with the investigation. The plow driver has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

According to WGN9 News, Anderson was using a snow blower to clear his driveway when he was struck by the plow truck. Police have not confirmed this yet.

A preliminary autopsy performed on Anderson Tuesday morning confirmed he died from multiple traumatic injuries consistent with being struck by the plow truck, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said.

“We have been in close contact with Mr. Anderson’s family and our deepest condolences go out to them. This is certainly a terrible tragedy,” Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said.

Libertyville Police Department Lt. Ed Roncone said on Monday that no further information or comments will be released by the Village of Libertyville at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
