No injuries were reported after 13 freight train cars derailed in Spring Grove Tuesday morning, police said.

The Spring Grove Police Department and Spring Grove Fire Department responded around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday to Blivin Street north of Route 12 for a train derailment.

Fire officials said that approximately 13 empty train cars derailed from a freight train. Police closed Blivin Street between Route 12 and Main Street.

Heavy recovery equipment arrived at the scene around 10:45 a.m. to assist with clean up. Officials said that the road is expected to be closed for at least the rest of Tuesday.

Police and railroad officials have declined to comment further on the incident at this time.

  1. These are the tracks operated by Wisconsin & Southern, right? Looks like they derailed at the Scot Forge siding. Unclear from the info if this was a through train to or from Bedford Park, IL, or a local switching the Scot Forge facility.
