Three people were injured, including an 80-year-old woman who was flown to the hospital, after a two-vehicle crash east of Harvard Friday afternoon.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County Conservation Police, Harvard Fire Protection and Hebron Fire Department responded at 3:44 p.m. Saturday to Alden Road and Thayer Road in Hartland Township, which is east of Harvard and southwest of Hebron.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said that a 2010 Chevrolet HHR was driving westbound on Thayer Road when it ran the stop sign at Alden Road.
A 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander driving southbound on Alden Road struck the Chevrolet in the southbound lane, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office added.
The driver of the Chevrolet, an 80-year-old Harvard woman, was transported by a Flight For Life medical helicopter to Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside in Rockford. The passenger in her car, a 58-year-old man, was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was transported by ambulance to Harvard Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts and airbags deployed in both cars. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriffโs Office Major Crash Investigation Unit.
