A 62-year-old Woodstock man was killed after he drove his car off the road, striking a guardrail and two trees, in unincorporated Woodstock Saturday afternoon.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the Woodstock Fire-Rescue District was called at 2:28 p.m. Saturday to 10107 West Route 120, near Thompson Road.

A 2016 Subaru Forester, driven by Eberhard H. Biesenthal, 62, of Woodstock, was traveling northbound on Route 120 when it crossed over the southbound lane and went off the west side of the roadway, striking the guardrail, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

The Subaru then crossed back over all lanes of traffic and went off the roadway to the east, striking the trees, the sheriff’s office added. Biesenthal was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:54 p.m.

Biesenthal was wearing his seatbelt and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said.

An autopsy on Biesenthal showed that he died from blunt trauma to the chest and abdomen, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office said. Toxicology testing is pending at this time.
