A Chicago man is facing sexual abuse charges after he allegedly picked up a 14-year-old girl from her Gurnee home and drove her to a motel near Libertyville, police said.

Vincent A. Dunson Jr., 22, of the 3200 block of West Thomas Street in Chicago, was charged with three felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and a felony count of traveling to meet a minor.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies responded at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 34000 block of North Jenna Lane in unincorporated Gurnee for a report of a missing juvenile.

Lake County Sheriff Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that an investigation revealed the missing 14-year-old girl was picked up at her home by Dunson and driven to the Doe’s Motel, 31228 Route 45 in unincorporated Libertyville.

Detectives learned that Dunson “engaged in acts of sexual penetration” with the girl, Covelli said. She was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and reunited with her family.

“Preying on our most vulnerable is one of the most horrific acts one could do. I am thankful our Highway Patrol Deputies located her so quickly and our Detectives conducted extensive follow-up to determine what occurred,” Sheriff John Idleburg said.

Dunson remains held in the Lake County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 11.
