The FBI is assisting Crystal Lake detectives and additional resources are being called in to help search for a 5-year-old boy who vanished from his bed overnight in Crystal Lake.

Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Thomas Kotlowski said Thursday afternoon that Andrew “AJ” Freund was last seen at his home in the 0-100 block of Dole Avenue Wednesday at 9 p.m. when his parents put him to bed.

They called police Thursday morning after waking up and not being able to find the boy in the home, police said. Andrew is 3-foot-5, 70 pounds and has short blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a blue Mario sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
