One child was rescued and another is still missing after they fell off a paddle boat on Bangs Lake in Wauconda Friday evening.

The Wauconda Fire District was called around 7:25 p.m. Friday to the area of Edgewater Parkway and Monroe Avenue in Wauconda for a report of a water rescue.

Wauconda police said that two kids fell out of a paddle boat after it reportedly capsized. One of the kids was rescued by a nearby fisherman and the other kid was still missing as of 10 p.m., when operations were declared to be in recovery mode.

The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated, bringing numerous other fire department divers, boats and equipment, including sonar, to the scene.

As of 9 p.m., searches continue on Bangs Lake. Two light towers have been setup at the scene to assist with the search.

The ages of the two kids are unknown at this time. Fire officials nor police officials have released any additional information yet.

Police are asking the public to avoid area near Lakeview Villa Beach.
