A man’s body was recovered from a retention pond at a Zion apartment complex Monday morning, police said.
The Zion Police Department was called at 11:30 a.m. Monday to the Woodstone Village Apartments, 1501 Lorelei Drive. Maintenance workers called 911 after spotting a body in the pond, police said.
The Zion Fire/Rescue Department and the Lake County County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and assisted with removing the body. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the body, who police described only as an adult male.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office transported the body to their facility for identification and investigation, police said. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
Police did not say whether the body was that of either 25-year-old Aaron J. Ramos or 28-year-old Army veteran Cory Rhinehart, who are both missing from Zion.
Police said that further information is expected to be released soon by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
