Kennett J. Andrews, 45, of Round Lake Beach.

A Round Lake Beach man has been charged after police say he fired several rounds through the front door of a Beach Park home during a confrontation that put area schools on lockdown Thursday morning.

Kennett J. Andrews, 45, of the 300 block of Meadow Green Lane in Round Lake Beach, has been charged with one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm, which is a Class 1 felony.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded at 10:35 a.m. Thursday to the 12900 block of West Wakefield Drive in Beach Park for a report of a shooting.

Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that Andrews drove to the residence to confront his ex-wife’s husband. The victim opened the front door after Andrew’s knocked but he closed the door after seeing it was Andrews.

Andrews then allegedly fired several rounds through the closed door and fled the scene, Covelli said. No one was injured by the gunfire. Area schools in Beach Park went on a soft lockdown “out of an abundance of caution,” Covelli said.
