Gurnee police have released video of a man who burglarized four homes early Tuesday morning and Lake Forest police have released video of a man who burglarized three homes in Lake Forest earlier this month.
The Gurnee Police Department issued a crime alert Wednesday warning residents about the burglaries, of which one occurred at a home on Hollyhock Court, another on Lawson Boulevard and two on Beechwood Avenue.
Each home was in close proximity to one another and personal property was removed from the inside of each home, police said.
Authorities believe the suspect entered the homes through unlocked or open doors, including open garage doors or rear sliding glass doors.
“Residents are encouraged to pay extra attention to securing their home doors, especially during the overnight hours,” the Gurnee Police Department said in a statement.
“Quality lighting is encouraged. It remains the most effective night time crime prevention technique that can be employed. Residents are encouraged to call 911 whenever anything suspicious is observed,” police added.

On Tuesday, the Lake Forest Police Department said that between 2-4 a.m. May 11, a suspect entered three Lake Forest homes in residential areas near Route 43 and Route 60, on the west side of the town.
Purses, wallets and a briefcase were taken in the burglaries. Security camera video was released of the suspect during one of the burglaries.
It is unknown if the burglaries in Lake Forest and Gurnee were committed by the same suspect or not. Anyone with information about the burglaries in Lake Forest are asked to contact the Lake Forest Police Department at 847-234-2601.
