A Lakemoor woman has been charged with driving under the influence after she struck and injured a motorcyclist with her car Saturday evening in Lakemoor, police said.

The Lakemoor Police Department and McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to Route 120 and Eastview Avenue for a report of a motorcycle crash around 7:55 p.m. Saturday.

Lakemoor Deputy Police Chief George Manis said that Alisgracia Velez, 46, of Lakemoor, was driving in an SUV eastbound on Route 120 when she crossed over the center line and went into the westbound lanes.

Velez struck a westbound motorcycle with her vehicle. The woman was arrested by police and charged with driving under the influence, Manis said.

A medical helicopter was put on standby but later cancelled after emergency crews determined it was not needed.

The man riding on the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital. He suffered a broken leg but otherwise no major injuries, Manis told Lake and McHenry County Scanner.
