A man armed with a knife unsuccessfully tried robbing a gas station in Zion Thursday evening, police said.

The Zion Police Department responded around 8:30 p.m. Thursday to the Star Gas station, 2301 Sheridan Road in Zion, for a report of a robbery.

Police said that a man entered the gas station and tried robbing the clerk at knifepoint but was unsuccessful. He fled eastbound and possibly got into a white SUV.

The suspect is described as a male white, 5-foot-8, medium to large build. He was wearing a baseball-style hat, dark colored Nike hoodie with the hood up, a dark color bandanna that had a light colored pattern on it and dark colored shoes with a white border around the sole.

Police also said the man appeared slightly pigeon toed when he ran. Anyone who sees this man is asked to not approach him and call 911 immediately.
