Dakotah T. Norton, 29, of Mundelein.

Former Village of Mundelein Trustee Dakotah Norton was charged after police say he burglarized his ex-girlfriend’s home and pushed a child during the confrontation.

Dakotah T. Norton, 29, of the 500 block of Woodcrest Drive in Mundelein, was charged with felony residential burglary and misdemeanor battery, court records show.

Mundelein Police Chief Eric Guenther said that Norton entered his ex-girlfriend’s home in the 500 block of North Prairie Avenue in Mundelein on August 5 without her permission.

A child inside the home confronted Norton and Norton allegedly pushed the child out of the way, Guenther said. Norton fled the scene and took items from the residence with him, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued and Norton was taken into custody at the Mundelein Farmers Market on August 9.

Norton remains held in the Lake County Jail on a $75,000 bond and needs to post $7,500 in order to be released on bail. He is scheduled to appear in court again on August 14 for a bond review.
