A man was fatally shot in Gurnee and four suspects wanted in connection with the homicide were taken into custody after leading police on a high-speed chase into Chicago early Tuesday morning.

The Gurnee Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 1:35 a.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Grand Avenue and Hunt Club Road for a shooting.

Police found a man shot and paramedics transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was pronounced dead.

A short time later, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office began pursuing a vehicle on Interstate 94 wanted in connection with the shooting.

The Illinois State Police and Chicago Police Department joined the pursuit around 1:45 a.m. and it ended in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood near Halstead Street and Randolph Street.

Three men and a woman were taken into custody around 2 a.m., according to Illinois State Police.
