Garrett C. Paffenroth, 27, of Lake Forest.

A 27-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly struck a woman, who was holding a baby, several times in the face, grabbed her by the throat and then knocked her to the ground, Lake Forest police said.

Garrett C. Paffenroth, 27, of the 800 block of Knightsbridge Court in Lake Forest, was charged with two counts of felony domestic battery.

The Lake Forest Police Department said that officers responded around 8:34 p.m. on August 9 to Paffenroth’s residence in the 800 block of Knightsbridge Court.

A woman called 911 and reported that Paffenroth, who was intoxicated, had struck her in the face and knocked her to the ground.

“Police located the victim and immediately noted signs that she had been the victim of a battery with marks to her face,” the Lake Forest Police Department said.

The woman told police she was struck in the face by Paffenroth while she was holding a baby, grabbed by the throat and then knocked to the ground. Paffenroth admitted to striking the woman three times in the face with an open hand, police said.

Paffenroth was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail where he was held overnight before appearing in bond court the next day. He was released after posting 10 percent of his $40,000 bond, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.

Paffenroth was previously charged with domestic battery and driving under the influence after being arrested by the Lake Forest Police Department in 2017, court records show.

Paffenroth is scheduled to appear in court again on September 28.
