Police are searching for two suspects after a 17-year-old was injured during a fight, which led to shots being fired at a home in unincorporated Gurnee Thursday evening.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Gurnee Police Department responded around 5 p.m. Thursday to the 17700 block of West Horseshoe Lane in unincorporated Gurnee for a report of shots fired.
Police found a 17-year-old boy, who lives at the home, with non-life-threatening injuries from a physical altercation with two subjects, Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said.
Covelli said that the victim was speaking with two men, who were possibly Hispanic and in their late teens or early 20s, and arrived at the home in a silver Honda Accord.
They were speaking with the 17-year-old boy near the front door of the home when a fight broke out and one of the men pulled a gun. The gun was discharged but nobody was struck.
The two men fled in their vehicle and escaped before police arrived.
“Sheriff’s Detectives continue to investigate, however, based on the information obtained thus far, this does not appear to be a random incident,” Covelli said.
