The Gurnee Police Department responded around 1:34 p.m. Monday to Hunt Club Road and Washington Street for a report of a hit-and-run crash. The offending vehicle was described as a white Jeep SUV last seen traveling northbound on Hunt Club Road.

Gurnee Police Department Spokeswoman Shawn Gaylor said that a vehicle matching the description was reported to be broken down on Hunt Club Road south of Dada Drive. Witnesses reported seeing several subjects pushing the vehicle northbound on Hunt Club Road.

Officers arrived in the area and located the white Jeep SUV in the parking lot of a nearby business. The occupants of the SUV were seen getting into a Hyundai sedan and trying to leave the scene, police said. Officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle and two subjects ran from police, Gaylor said.

Castro-Gomez was located and fought with officers as they attempted to arrest him. An officer suffered minor injuries during the incident and was transported to the hospital for his injuries. He was released the same day.
