A man driving a motorcycle was killed after a collision with a semi-truck on Route 45 in Gurnee Monday morning, police said.

The Gurnee Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 7:35 a.m. Monday to the area of Route 45 and Dada Drive for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Officers arrived and found a motorcycle collided with a semi-truck. The driver of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, Gurnee Police Department Spokeswoman Shawn Gaylor said.

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured, Gaylor added.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is assisting the Gurnee Police Department with the crash investigation.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and has notified the motorcyclist’s family, Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said. An autopsy has been scheduled for late Monday afternoon, Cooper added.
