A warrant has been issued for a man accused of firing at least two shots from a revolver at his wife in Zion Sunday evening, police said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Darnell A. Young, 44, of Zion, on the charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated assault.

The Zion Police Department responded around 5 p.m. Sunday to the 3100 block of Elim Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Police said that Young allegedly fired at least two rounds from a revolver at his wife while they were both standing in the 3100 block of Elim Avenue.

Young fled the area in a white Nissan Altima before police arrived. The Nissan was later located near the intersection of 19th Street and Hilltop Avenue in Zion.

Officers and a police canine conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the man. Young’s wife was not injured during the shooting, police said.

“While there is believed to be no danger to the general public, Young is considered armed and dangerous,” the Zion Police Department said.

Bond was set at $750,000 on Young’s warrant, police said.
