A Waukegan man has been charged after police say he crashed head-on into two parked cars, seriously injuring a man, and then fled the scene in Beach Park early Saturday morning.
Noe Rosales, 37, of the 0-100 block of North Jackson Street in Waukegan, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and driving while on a revoked license.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1 a.m. Saturday to Yorkhouse Road east of Sheridan Road in Beach Park for a report of a three-vehicle crash with injuries.
Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that a 2004 Jeep was traveling eastbound on Yorkhouse Road when it crashed head-on into two parked cars, which were parked facing westbound on the north side of the road.
A 33-year-old Waukegan, who was in the passenger seat of the first parked car the Jeep had struck, suffered serious injuries, Covelli said. The victim has since been released from the hospital.
All occupants in the Jeep, including the driver, fled the scene. The driver, later identified as Rosales, surrendered himself to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office late Saturday morning after facing pressure from family members to turn himself in, Covelli said.
Rosales also had an active failure to appear arrest warrant for driving on a suspended driver’s license, police said. Rosales was released from the Lake County Jail after posting 10 percent of his $20,000 bond.
