Police are investigating after a man reported that he was jogging in Zion when he was shot multiple times and robbed by two suspects Sunday morning.

The Zion Police Department was notified around 10:30 a.m. Sunday of a person with multiple gunshot wounds that was being treated at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.

Officers responded to the hospital and spoke to the 37-year-old Zion man. The victim told officers he was jogging in the area of 21st Street and Hebron Avenue when he was approached by two subjects with weapons.

The man told police they took his cellphone and wallet before shooting him multiple times, the Zion Police Department said. The victim said that he ran from the scene and contacted relatives, who transported him to the hospital after the shooting.

“Several inconsistencies have been noted between physical evidence and the victims account,” the Zion Police Department said in a statement.
