An Island Lake man, who is a sex offender, was sentenced to three years in prison after police found him living at a residence near a park, McHenry County prosecutors said.
Daniel Lee Roy, 40, of Island Lake, was found guilty of failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 2 felony, following a negotiated plea before McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge.
The Crystal Lake Police Department conducted a compliance check into Roy’s residence after he registered as a sex offender.
“An investigation revealed that Roy was not living where he was registered, but was rather residing at a prohibited address that was located near a park,” the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Roy has previously been arrested multiple times for failure to register as a sex offender in Kane County, court records show.
Roy was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse of a 15-year-old in Alexander County when he was 24 years old, according to the Illinois Child Sex Offender Database.
