Several fire departments were called Friday afternoon after a car caught on fire inside the garage of a Lake Bluff home, officials said.

The Lake Bluff Fire Department responded around 12:41 p.m. Friday to the 29700 block of Green Bay Road for a report of a car on fire inside a garage.

Firefighters arrived and found smoke and flames coming from the garage. Everyone inside the home was able to evacuate safely.

Fire crews quickly knocked down the fire and continued working to ensure that the fire did not extend to the rest of the home, officials said.

“Thankfully, through a swift and coordinated effort, fire crews were able to contain all major damage to just the garage,” the Lake Bluff Fire Department said. No firefighters or residents were injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Firefighters from Libertyville, Lake Forest, Great Lakes, North Chicago, Countryside, Mundelein, Grayslake, Highland Park and Zion assisted at the scene or covered calls for Lake Bluff.
