A $6,000 reward is being offered in the shooting that killed a 20-year-old Zion man and injured three others in Round Lake Park last month.
Taiveyon Victorian, 20, of Zion, was killed and three others were wounded after a gunman began shooting at a Round Lake Park home on September 29.
The Round Lake Park Police Department responded to the 500 block of Fairlawn Drive for a report of shots fired.
Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said that officers on patrol in the area heard the shots and found four adult males, including Victorian, with gunshot wounds at a residence.
Filenko said that there was a party being hosted at the home and partygoers arrived that the family did not know so they began turning people away.
At least one gunman arrived at the party and began shooting outside from the street before entering the home to shoot more people who were in the kitchen area, Filenko said.
Victorian was pronounced dead at the scene, Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said. Two other men were critically injured and transported to an area hospital. The fourth man shot sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to an area hospital.
Victorian graduated Zion-Benton High School, where he played football, in 2017. His mother, Keisha Victorian, is calling on the community to come forward with information on her son’s killer.
“This outstanding young man, his life was taken senselessly,” Filenko said at a press conference Wednesday.
“If you don’t know, let me inform you. You are just as guilty as the shooters if you know who did it and won’t talk,” Pastor Arthur Gass of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church said.
The Lake County Major Crime Task Force and the Round Lake Park Police Department continue to follow up on leads. Police said that the shooting was possibly gang-related and the three victims that survived are not cooperating.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lake County Crime Stoppers at 847-662-2222.
