Police are searching for two men who robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store at gunpoint in Beach Park Tuesday evening.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 7-Eleven, 37763 North Green Bay Road in Beach Park, for a report of an armed robbery.

Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that two male blacks, approximately 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, between the ages of 18 and 20, wearing hooded sweatshirts, entered the store and confronted the clerk, asking the clerk to make change.

One of the two men then displayed a semi-automatic pistol and demanded money from the cash register.

An undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were stolen. Both subjects fled on foot following the robbery. A canine track was conducted and ended in the area of Northern Avenue and Yorkhouse Road in Beach Park, where police say the offenders likely entered a vehicle.
