Police are investigating after a man dressed in black wearing a mask robbed a gas station at gunpoint in Algonquin Sunday evening.

The Algonquin Police Department responded around 7:31 p.m. Sunday to Clark gas station, 1001 South Main Street in Algonquin, for a report of an armed robbery.

“The initial investigation revealed that a male subject, dressed in black and concealing his identity with a mask, entered the business and displayed a handgun to the clerk,” Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Ryan Markham said in a statement.

The offender fled the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, Markham said.

No one was injured during this robbery. Officers conducted a search of the area with the assistance of the Campton Hills Police Department’s K-9 unit but the offender was not located.
