A 20-year-old McHenry man is facing 72 counts of charges consisting of indecent solicitation of a child, possession of child porn and grooming of a juvenile under the age of 17.
Timothy A. Marcinko, 20, of the 6200 block of Longford Drive in McHenry, was charged with 32 counts of indecent solicitation of a child, 36 counts of possession of child pornography and 4 counts of grooming.
McHenry Police Chief John Birk announced the charges against Marcinko Friday afternoon following a criminal investigation involving a juvenile sex crime.
Court records show that in June 2018, Marcinko used the app called Discord, which is a platform to communicate through text or voice, to communicate with a juvenile under the age of 17.
Marcinko used the app in an attempt to get the juvenile, who lives outside of Illinois, to perform sexual acts on him, McHenry Police Department Spokesman Patrick Polidori said.
Police also found pornographic photos of the juvenile in Marcinko’s possession, court records show.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Criminal Investigations (DOJ) and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office assisted the McHenry Police Department in the investigation.
Marcinko was taken into custody at his residence Thursday and was transported to the McHenry County Jail where he was released after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bond.
