A woman was displaced from her Round Lake Park home after a fire that left three of her pets dead Wednesday evening.

The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District and Round Lake Park Police Department responded around 8:39 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Clifton Drive for a report of a structure fire.

A neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke and flames coming from the upper level of the house, Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said.

The lone female resident was not home at the time of the fire. Firefighters rescued one of the woman’s dogs but three other pets, which included two cats and a dog, were found dead.

Red Cross is assisting the woman and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, Filenko said.

A GoFundMe started for the woman said that she lost everything in the fire.

“Everything is gone. She is left with her truck, her 1 dog, and her work clothes she was wearing when she pulled up to her worst nightmare. My dear friend is grieving. Grieving the loss of items and souls that are irreplaceable,” the GoFundMe said.
