Police said that the report of a needle inside a Halloween candy bar in Huntley was fabricated and there will be no criminal charges.

The Huntley Police Department said they received a report of a piece of tampered candy Wednesday evening that was possibly handed out in the Talamore subdivision.

The resident told police that they had discovered a large sewing needle in a small Kit Kat bar after their child bit into the piece candy, according to Huntley Deputy Police Chief Mike Klunk.

On Friday, Klunk said in an update that further investigation revealed the incident was fabricated and authorities deemed it unfounded.

“Due to the age of the juvenile, there will be no criminal charges and consequences will be handled by the parents,” Klunk said.
