A 23-year-old man has been charged after police say he stabbed a 30-year-old man in the chest in Crystal Lake Tuesday morning.

David Lepey, 23, of Crystal Lake, was charged with domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony.

The Crystal Lake Police Department responded around 7:26 a.m. to the 500 block of Devonshire Lane for a report of a male subject armed with a knife and acting abnormal.

Police officers found a 30-year-old man suffering from a single stab wound to the chest, Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Thomas Kotlowski said, adding that Crystal Lake Fire-Rescue paramedics responded and provided emergency medical care to the victim.

The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for further treatment. Hospital staff described the injury as superficial and non-life-threatening, Kotlowski said.

Lepey was taken into custody at the scene by police. The incident is the result of a domestic situation and there is no danger to the public, Kotlowski said.
