A Gilberts man was sentenced to four years in prison following a plea deal after Crystal Lake police charged him with his fifth DUI.
Patrick J. McArdle, 57, of the 0-99 block of Galligan Road in Gilberts, was found guilty of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, a Class 1 felony, following a negotiated plea before Judge Michael Coppedge.
McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally said that members of the Crystal Lake Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically on June 30.
Officers located McArdle asleep in his vehicle, exhibiting signs that he was under the influence of alcohol, prosecutors said. McArdle admitted to consuming alcohol beverages and open containers of alcohol were located in his vehicle.
McArdle was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections pursuant to the plea deal, in which prosecutors dropped additional charges against him.
The case was investigated by members of the Crystal Lake Police Department and prosecuted by Robert Ladd of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
